Challenge
PPND supports several community development corporations (CDCs) on a limited budget in an environment that includes the city of Pittsburgh's financial turmoil and poor public perception of urban neighborhoods. Without a proactive approach for managing and implementing communications tactics, the PPND brand, and that of the CDCs, was running the risk of being neutrally or negatively defined by its audiences.
Strategy
D+CO is currently in the discovery and planning process for two pilot projects, the 16:62 Design Zone and the Penn Avenue Arts Initiative. As part of this process, D+CO is working on developing a "tool kit" that can be translated to other CDCs for their communications efforts.
Results
Communications planning and design is still in progress. Implementation is to begin in summer of 2005.
