DYAN HORNUNG: Account Director
During her time at D+CO, Dyan has provided strategic counsel, planning, program development, implementation and project management expertise to a diverse portfolio of clients, including California University of Pennsylvania, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Kennywood Park, Sandcastle Water Park, RedPath Integrated Pathology, and the Pittsburgh Partnership for Neighborhood Development, among others.
Her wide-ranging experience in a variety of industries and roles during her 23-year career makes her well prepared to provide stellar client service with a constant eye toward budget and efficiency. Her unique background includes stints in both creative and account management, and she has worked both on the in-house client and agency sides, making her an educated and well-rounded advocate for the clients she serves.
She arrived at D+CO in early 2006 after five years at UPMC St. Margaret. Her role there included writing, public relations, traditional and grassroots marketing, and community initiatives. She also worked with community building and development in medically underserved communities, leading and cultivating a 100+ agency collaborative that received coveted State Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) status through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Dyan has also worked in retail marketing, co-directing the advertising department for The Factory Outlets, a chain of 40+ women’s retail clothing stores in multiple southern markets. This South Carolina-based position incorporated a wide variety of roles including writing, marketing, public relations, media planning/buying, events planning and strategic partnership development. She also worked in the traditional advertising, media and promotions arena at AT&T Media Services (now Comcast Spotlight) in Pittsburgh.
She spent the earlier part of her career as an on air radio personality, working fulltime in Pittsburgh and doing evenings at both at Y108 and WSHH, as well as stations in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina, where she worked as a morning drive co-host and news director.
Dyan earned a BS in communications and writing from the University of Pittsburgh, and has done a variety of freelance writing and voice work. An avid rower with four gold racing medals (and two silver!) in her collection, she is a water lover through and through. When she isn’t rowing with her team, she can be found kayaking in one of her two vessels. She often spends the winter months performing plays in area theatres …and anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring.
